CSHoF and HC Partner to Amplify the Legacies of Canadian Sport Icons
Calgary, Alberta - Historica Canada, home of The Canadian Encyclopedia, Heritage Minutes, and a variety of educational programs, is joining in partnership with Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame (CSHoF) to celebrate the legacies of the country’s sport icons. This agreement will provide Canadians with new opportunities to engage with the stories of prominent sport figures who have helped shape this country, deepening national pride and inspiring future generations.
As a central element of the partnership, Historica Canada and CSHoF have launched an interactive map that showcases the birthplaces of the more than 750 Hall of Famers inducted into CSHoF. This tool allows Canadians to explore the origins of these remarkable people, connecting their extraordinary achievements to the communities where their journeys began. The map also provides an interactive resource that enhances CSHoF’s ability to empower the over 1.4 million youth reached through the digital museum’s national education programs, supporting the effort to inspire the leaders of tomorrow through the invaluable lessons of sport.
The partnership holds special significance for the families of these sport legends, whose contributions will now be celebrated in new and meaningful ways. “Seeing our father's story honoured in a Heritage Minute was an incredibly special moment for the family,” said the sons of Canadian Football great Normie Kwong. “Now, seeing Historica Canada partner with Canada's Sports Hall of Fame to further amplify and celebrate the legacies of Hall of Famers like our father, Norm Kwong, is truly inspiring. We are deeply grateful for this continued recognition of his impact.”
Said Anthony Wilson-Smith, President and CEO of Historica Canada: “We are delighted to partner with Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame to celebrate the legacies of Canada’s sports legends. This collaboration expands the reach of their stories and ensures their impact continues to resonate with Canadians across the country.”
The partnership represents a significant step in preserving and sharing the rich history of Canadian sport, and in ensuring these legacies remain accessible to all Canadians. To explore the interactive map, visit Canada's Sports Hall of Fame | The Canadian Encyclopedia.
