Historica Canada releases new “Nursing Sisters” Heritage Minute

On Thursday, May 14 Historica Canada adds the 80th Heritage Minute to the beloved collection. “Nursing Sisters” commemorates the service and sacrifice of women on the front lines of the First World War through the retelling of a real event from May 1918. It is the story of two of the nearly 3000 trained nurses who served overseas, and premieres during National Nursing Week.

"The dangers faced by the nurses were very real, and it was not uncommon for them to be treating the wounded in the face of bombing and shelling attacks," said Anthony Wilson-Smith, President and CEO of Historica Canada. "Our new Minute is a tribute not just to those who are featured, but to all those Canadian nurses who served."

“Nursing Sisters” was produced by Historica Canada and Calgary-based Corkscrew Media & Stir Films. It stars Canadian actress Siobhán Williams (Hell on Wheels, Black Box, UnReal). The iconic end narration is provided by Molly Parker (House of Cards).

Heritage Minutes were created by the CRB Foundation in 1991 and re-launched by Historica Canada in 2012. Since then, Historica Canada has released six new Heritage Minutes.
